Carlsbad resident Suzette O. came into the Tech Brainy office at 565 Grand Ave. this past Saturday for two hours of computer training. She wanted to learn keyboard shortcuts for Excel, Word and PowerPoint, three key programs in the Microsoft Office suite.
We used her own equipment and programs, as familiarity with one's own equipment helps foster learning, and real-word examples from her daily job (wine importing/sales) to show her tricks of the trade, including "control z" which is "undo last action" and standards "control s" (save), "control c" (cut), "control p" (paste), and "control a" (select all).
In showing her some of the key shortcuts in Excel, which she was somewhat familiar with, we cemented her knowledge of the standard keyboard shortcuts and their use across the MS Office platform.
As a result of the two-hour training program, Suzette found she could easily move into Word or PowerPoint and make the same types of keyboard shortcuts. This comfort level helped her become more comfortable using Word and PowerPoint and the integration of data from Excel into the other two programs.
Computer training services, available from Tech Brainy, can help neophytes learn things like how to open and save attachments (such as emailed photos), send their own attachments (such as photos) and help more advanced users navigate the intricacies of Microsoft programs.
